Golden Anubias Nana (Anubias barteri var. “Golden Nana”) on 3+ inch Driftwood

Golden Anubias Nana is a rare and lovely Anubias barteri variant that is celebrated for its distinctive lime green leaves, which make it a sure standout in the planted aquarium!

Golden Anubias Nana (Anubias barteri var. “nana”) is a very unique, beautiful variant of Anubias barteri.  Its lime green leaves, durable structure, and easy care requirements make it an ideal plant for aquarists of all skill levels.  Like virtually all Anubias plants, it is extremely hardy, undemanding, and can thrive in a variety of water parameters.  We are thrilled to now be able to offer this plant attached to an attractive 3+ inch driftwood piece!

Care for Golden Anubias Nana is identical to other Anubias plants.  Its ideal placement in the aquarium is in the middle ground, and it will look its best under low to moderate lighting.  Excessive lighting can result in unattractive, pesky algae growth on its leaves.  However, this algae growth can easily be kept under control in an aquarium with a healthy population of shrimp (especially Amano Shrimp) that will constantly graze on the algae without harming the Anubias plant itself.  Most herbivorous animals will not harm Anubias nana whatsoever, although some bio-fim or ”wood-eating” Panaque genus plecos may “chew” holes in its leaves.  

Like many Anubias species, this plant is slow and steady in growth and does not seem to respond significantly to CO₂ supplementation.  It thrives best when attached to driftwood or rockwork.  It can be planted in the substrate but its rhizome (roots) must not be buried in the substrate because  it will rot and recede.  It can also be planted emersed in terrariums, paludariums, and viquariums.  

Like most plants, Golden Anubias Nana will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen, and other plant supplements.
