Guyana Milfoil is a very hardy plant that is ideal for the nano aquarium, but it also very appropriate for larger aquariums as well. This uncommon plant is very bushy and can be the focal point of virtually any aquascape!

Guyana Milfoil (Myriophyllum sp. "Guyana") is not commonly available in the aquarium hobby, but it is an excellent plant for the nano aquarium, even in low-light and low-tech setups. This bushy, bright green plant is of mysterious origins, but it is very easy to keep in the home aquarium. It propagates easily and its stems can be pruned and replanted easily. In the nano or smaller aquarium, it can be a very noticeable background plant, and in the larger aquarium, it is equally noticeable in the foreground and background.

Guyana Milfoil can grow easily and maintain its appearance in low to high lighting. This plant grows prolifically in the wild, and it can even be very invasive in non-indigenous waterways. This plant is extremely verstile regarding water parameters, so it is an excellent choice for beginners an experts alike. It will benefit from CO2 supplementation, but this is certainly not required. In fact, it will likely require much more frequent trimming when CO2 supplementation due to the dramatically increased, denser growth rate that such supplementation will promote.

Like most plants, Guyana Milfoil will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, Flourish Nitrogen, Flourish Iron, and other plant supplements.

This listing is for the tissue culture form of Guyana Milfoil. Tissue cultures are superior to traditional forms of aquarium plants in many ways. They are produced in a completely sterile environment which eliminates the possibility of them carrying pest snails or algae spores. They have a shelf life (before introduction to the aquarium) of several months if properly maintained and they are housed in a nutrient gel until introduced to the aquarium. To introduce a tissue culture plant to the aquarium, simply rinse off as much nutrient gel as possible, then plant as usual. The nutrient gel will not harm your aquarium.
